ICO data protection powers come into effect

A statutory instrument giving the Information Commissioner's Office the power to issue large fines for data-protection offences has now become law.

Using its new powers, which came into effect on the 6 April, the data watchdog can fine businesses up to half-a-million pounds if they suffer serious breaches that expose their clients' personal information.

We have proven that we stringently protect our customers’ personal information, and operate best practice in information security, by attaining ISO 27001 certification for our offshore software development centre, which is the highest international standard for evaluating a company's security policies and procedures.

You can find out more about our offshore development service here.
