Data breaches cost £64 per record

Following on from the news that the ICO has uncovered more than 800 data security breaches in UK organisations since 2007, new research has revealed that, in 2009, data breaches cost UK firms an average of £64 for every record lost.

Conducted by the Ponemon Institute, the study also found that data breaches cost British companies seven per cent more in 2009 than in the previous year.
